ISLAMABAD: The Enforcement Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) uses its force against the poor vendors and shopkeepers but seems helpless before the land mafia, occupying hundreds of acres of land illegally to develop housing societies and fleece general public. According to CDA sources, land mafia has not spared even the Korang Nullah and has occupied major portion of its catchments areas and developed housing societies there. CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi has floated an idea stressing the authorities concerned to focus on generating new income resources instead of selling the valuable land. According to the CDA spokesman, the authority has stopped construction activity in 11 housing schemes operating illegally in Zone-IV and V and added that special teams have been formed to keep an eye on the construction activities in the identified areas. He said the situation worsens when land grabbers move to court against the CDA’s drive to demolish illegal structures they raised on its land and the procedural delays in disposal of cases keep the CDA from retaking its land. app
