LAHORE: District Coordination Officer Lahore said on Monday that section 144 has been imposed in the city.

Talking to SAMAA DCO Lahore Sajjad Bhutta told that imposition of section 144 is not meant for getting shops closed.

The government has formed committees for talking to the representatives of traders for adherence to the decisions about closure of shops, DCO stated.

DCO stated that purpose of imposition of 144 was to check the use of electricity lights and electric decoration in wedding halls.

It is a government policy to close shops at 8pm, wedding halls at 10pm, and restaurants at 12pm whereas medical stores and bakeries are exempted from the closure, he said.

Secretary interior of Punjab has directed all the DCOs to impose section 144 in the province.

The administrators of all the districts have been directed by the Punjab government to enforce the decision of closure of all the shops at 8pm. SAMAA
