KARACHI: Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Executive Board President and Commander 5 Corps Lt Gen Shahid Iqbal Friday directed the DHA management to tap wind and solar energy available in abundance in DHA City on the Super Highway and indigenously manufacture solar panels and wind turbines for domestic use at a cost-effective and affordable price.

The corps commander was chairing a meeting of the DHA Executive Board to review the strategic dimensions of mega projects. He directed the DHA to act in consonance with the national aspirations and take dynamic measures for conservation of energy.

It was informed during the meeting that a laboratory was being established at DHA City Directorate to assist and facilitate development of renewable energy. It was further informed that the construction work of a tissue culture laboratory being established by the DHA near Nisar Shaheed Park in DHA Phase-II was near completion.

The infrastructural development of Sector-A of DHA Phase-VIII was completed and infrastructure development activity was in full swing in Sector-B of DHA Phase-VIII. The board decided to extend the deposit date of the first instalment of differential charges levied by the DHA on residential/commercial plots in DHA Phase-VII Extension up to June 30.
