LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore, Khusro Pervaiz held discussions with traders in Lahore on Tuesday and asked them to close their shops by 7:00 pm every evening.

Traders would not be allowed to switch on any generators after this time either.

Pervaiz said these steps had become necessary due to 18 to 20 hours of loadshedding in rural areas.

The Punjab Government also announced power conservation initiatives with immediate effect. It was announced that government offices will not be allowed to switch on air conditioners before 11:00 am and 50 per cent of lights will remain switched off at all times.

Also, it was announced that only one out of every three street lights will be switched on and then switched off by early morning.

It was stated that restaurants would be given instructions to not switch on unnecessary lights and no lights were to be used to decorate trees, and gas stations.

Along with the other initiatives, there would also be a complete ban on billboards and neon signs that used electricity.
