LAHORE: The federal government has removed Deputy Attorney General Shah Khawar from his office and appointed him as a Tax Tribunal member in Peshawar, a private channel reported on Sunday.

The government has appointed Multan’s senior lawyer Ilyas Khan and Advocate Chaudhry Mazhar as DAG, the channel said.

Khawar had appeared in the NRO and missing person’s cases before the Supreme Court in his capacity as the acting Attorney General. Talking to the channel, Khawar said that acting AG KK Agha had asked him for the record of the missing persons’ case, which was an indication that the government was about to remove him from office.

Earlier, talking to another private TV channel, Khawar said he did not know about his sacking, adding that he would prefer practicing as a lawyer if the government appointed him a Tax Tribunal member.
