KARACHI: Sindh Senior Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said Monday that the PPP, MQM, ANP and other political parties would have to deal with the land mafia together and bring an end to the occupation of government lands. He was giving a statement in response to a point of order raised by Provincial Auqaf Minister Abdul Haseeb Khan in the Sindh Assembly. The auqaf minister earlier told the House that his department owned a land opposite to the Jama Cloth Market where some people buried a body on Sunday. He said police were told about the incident but they took no action and the burial took place in their presence. Mazhar assured that he would bring this matter to the notice of the chief minister. He pointed out that those occupying government lands either use the flag of the PPP or the MQM, and investigation has revealed that land grabbers had no connection to these parties. Meanwhile, Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla while replying to a question by Heer Ismail Soho told the assembly that his department had recovered 42.739kg heroin, 16,914kg charas and 4,749kg bhang in raids during 2008-2009. He said police arrested 312 culprits and registered cases against them under the Control of Narcotic Substance Act 1997. app
