LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shabaz Sharif on Sunday issued instructions for construction of five more parking plazas in the congested areas of the city.

People face problems due to non-availability of parking places, and sites should be identified for the construction of at least five parking plazas in different areas of the city, including the walled city, he said. He said that a report should be submitted to him within seven days.

The CM made these remarks while presiding over a meeting held to discuss the ongoing development projects on Sunday. The Planning & Development chairman, Lahore commissioner and District Coordination officer, LDA and PHA’s director generals, NESPAK and National Logistic Cell‘s senior officers and consultant Ahmed Mukhtar, also attended the meeting. The CM also instructed early completion of horticulture work on Lahore Ring Road Package 6 and 7, and remodelling of Sattu Katla Drain and Bhatta Chowk.

He said the various development projects that are in the pipeline aim to improve people’s standard of living, and will also promote horticulture for a “more beautiful” and healthier atmosphere.

He said that Madr-e-Millat Road, Shaukat Ali Road, Sagian and Shalimar Interchanges and Lahore Ring Road Package 6 and 7 are models of, “a high standard of work”. “The new projects will replicate the high standard of work set in the last tenure of the present government”, he added. The CM praised PHA Abdul Jabbar Shaheen’s efforts for promoting horticulture in Lahore. Lahore commissioner, LDA director general and consultant Ahmed Mukhtar gave detailed briefings on various development projects.
