KARACHI: Former Karachi nazim advocate Niamatullah Khan has filed petition in Supreme Court against alleged massive illegal occupation of amenity plots in metropolis by various political-ethnic parties and construction of trade, residential projects and party offices on them.

The federal government, secretaries of the Sindh Home Department, environment and local bodies departments, City District Government Karachi, Sindh Rangers DG and IG were cited as respondents.

Various documentary evidences have been submitted with the petition like a list of 156 amenity and government lands that have been allegedly illegally occupied, satellite geographical images; photographs, etc.

The petitioner stated that most of the lands in question were occupied during last four years allegedly in collusion with the city government and town administrations. But, the provincial government, police and other law enforcement agencies took no action.

It was prayed in the petition to declare all such occupations as illegal, and all lands be retrieved from encroachers for which government should be directed to take steps. ppi
