LONDON: Britain has ordered the expulsion of an Israeli diplomat over the use of fake British passports in the killing of a Hamas commander in Dubai, Foreign Secretary David Miliband said on Tuesday.
“I have asked that a member of the embassy of Israel be withdrawn from the UK as a result of this affair, and this is taking place,” he told lawmakers. Miliband said there were “compelling reasons” to believe Israel was behind the misuse of British passports in the killing of Mahmud al-Mabhuh in January.
Separately, Israeli Ambassador to UK Ron Prosor said Tel Aviv was “disappointed” at Britain’s expulsion of its diplomat over the fake passports issue. afp
