KARACHI: We have given a success model to the city of Karachi during our four years tenure of the city government and the incumbent would have to strive hard to govern this city, former City Nazim Mustafa Kamal said this at a ceremony hosted in his honour here on Sunday evening.

Addressing a crowded gathering of the city’s business community, he said during his four-year tenure as City Nazim he undertook a number of development projects worth Rs 200 billion that changed the face of the city.

He said people were crying over skyrocketing prices of flour, sugar, rice, electricity and other utilities, but they themselves were responsible for such a situation, as they elected wrong people.

Earlier, Mian Zahid Hussain in his welcome address said, the achievements of Mustafa Kamal were commendable. He said Kamal fulfilled all his commitments made to the people of this city.

Zahid said owing to shortage of funds and time constraints, Kamal could not fulfill his most ambitious plan of giving an elevated corridor from Landhi to Tower and the completion of Lyari Expressway. He said as per wishes of the Karachiites, Mustafa should be given another chance to complete these mega projects. staff report
